For more than four years we have been working to transform traditional, complicated accounting software into something completely new in the universe. We call it Easy Numbers: It’s simple. It’s easy to understand. It’s easy to use. It takes care of all necessary and required accounting functions, but without tying your brain in a knot or boring you to death. It does one last thing, too. A thing we think may be the most important of all. How Would We Know?

How would we know what’s important, numbers-wise, to a small business owner, freelancer or entrepreneur? Simple: we ourselves have been very busy as entrepreneurs and small business owners for more than a decade. We’ve launched and run more than ten new businesses. Not all of them have been successes, but every one taught us a lot about how businesses work and what it takes to make one fly. We’re not talking about MBA classroom theory; we’re talking about real-world, hands-on experience.

We also learned about the things accountants need, expect and demand – and that includes the accountants at financial institutions and in the government, too.

In other words, we know what you need and want in managing your business, and we know what accountants want and expect from your business’s books. Armed with all this knowledge, we created software that:

It’s quite true that there are several other accounting software programs around, and some of them are pretty widely used. So what did we do to make ours different and better?

1. We invested an enormous amount of time, creativity and hard work in our front end and user interface. It’s simple, it’s intuitive and it’s awesome to look at.
2. We took advantage of every possible new tech breakthrough and made our application totally up-to-date – as fast and as smart as it could be.
3. We concentrated on your needs, the way you think and act as a daily user, rather than focusing on accountant-think and bookkeeping intricacies. You can see your current numbers for things like sales, expenses and profits instantly – without wading through other details to find them.

What Makes Us Different from Our Competitors?

When we first set out to create our software, we carefully studied our future competitors and what they were doing and offering. One thing that struck us was that they all acted as though they were in the exact same business, and competing for the exact same clients.

Well, to some extent they were right. But they were competing on the basis of appealing to accountants. We saw the game differently. The people we were – and are – most interested in serving are entrepreneurs, freelancers, small business owners and startups. Not their accountants, or the accountants they really can’t afford to hire. So while we’re still in competition with traditional software providers like QuickBooks and FreshBooks, we think we’re well ahead of them, right from the start. Maybe not just ahead, but on a completely different, more user-friendly playing field! That’s what our users tell us.
